Some people feel drawn to the bedside long before they know what to call it.  


An end-of-life doula is a trained lay companion who offers non-medical presence and support to individuals and families during the final season of life. End-of-life doulas do not replace pastors, hospice teams, or medical professionals; they serve alongside them—helping ensure that no one walks the final journey alone.


The Death & Resurrection Doula Training Program equips ordinary Christians to answer this call with wisdom, confidence, and compassion. Rooted in the theology of the cross and the promise of bodily resurrection, this formation prepares lay companions to bring resurrection hope to the bedside — bearing witness that death is not the end, but the beginning of eternal life in Christ.

Meet Laurel Nicholson, Founder

Laurel Nicholson is a Christian End-of-Life Doula Practitioner and Theologian. She is the founder of the Death & Resurrection Doula Training Program, the first and only Christ-centered program within the secularly dominated Death Positive movement, equipping doulas to walk faithfully with the dying while integrating Scripture, theology, pastoral care, and non-medical comfort practices.

The need for compassionate, Christ-centered end-of-life care is real! 


As aging populations reshape our communities and increasing numbers face death alone, the church is being invited to remember an ancient ministry. From the earliest days of the church, accompanying the dying was understood as a work of mercy, discipleship, and faithful witness. Scripture reminds us that the dead in Christ will be raised first (1 Thessalonians 4), giving our work hope and purpose even in grief.


Join a Christ-centered online community where churches, caregivers, and doulas come together to walk faithfully with those who stand first in the promise of resurrection.
