WHY YOUR STORY MATTERS

creating a culture of hospitality

Did you know that God ministers to His creation through the people He has created?

Vocation is one of God's ordinary means of caring for the world. While vocation includes our professions, it also encompasses the holy callings of motherhood, friendship, being sons and daughters, and participating in both the joys and sorrows of our neighbors. The Christian doctrine of vocation teaches that God is the giver, and that He gives through the people He calls.

Hospitality is one beautiful expression of that vocation. Hospitality, which literally means the "love of the stranger" is also a way of serving Christ:   "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me." (Matthew 20:35-36)

Christian hospitality reveals the divine economy of grace. Christ identifies himself with those in need and also serves them through the work, relationships, and experiences of every day life.  In God's economy, we serve Christ though Christ in every need we encounter :

"Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." (Galatians 6:2)

An end-of-life doula is one of the ordinary means by which God bears the burdens of those who are suffering, making His compassion, hospitality, and hope visible in the world.

You are invited into an immersive weekend of examining true hospitality.

Training is the heart of our community and increasing the number of Volunteer and Professional Death & Resurrection Doulas is vital if we are to make a difference in the field of end-of-life care.

This fall, we have several scholarships available for new enrollments in the Professional & Volunteer Training Programs. Eligibility is dependent upon having a strong church connection. This initiative is intended to establish a working relationship between a doula and the church community he or she serves.

Pastors will be invited to participate in your training! If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, please complete our registration form and mark YES that you are applying for a church-based scholarship. An application link will be emailed to you.
